”GO REST HIGH ON THAT MOUNTAIN..”

JEFF KIRKLAND, AGED 35 yr’s, FATHER, MARINE AND EMPLOYEE OF MINE.

HE WAS THE SAME AGE AS MY SON. THEY WERE BORN IN THE SAME HOSPITAL BUT NEVER KNEW EACH OTHER. I HIRED HIM WHEN HE WAS IN HIS 20’s AND HE WORKED FOR ME ABOUT 10 yr’s. I WAS HIS MENTOR AND HE WAS LIKE A SON TO ME. HE WAS A RESERVE IN THE MARINES AND GOT CALLED TO ACTIVE DUTY WHILE WORKING FOR ME. PURPLE HEART. JEFF WAS HEADED HOME FROM WORK AND FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. HE CROSSED THE CENTER LINE AND HIT A SEMI HEAD ON. HE DIED AT THE SCENE. HE STILL LIVED IN LOUISIANA FROM WHERE HIS WIFE CALLED ME AFTER MID-NIGHT AND BROKE THE NEWS TO ME. I HAVE NOT FELT ANY EMOTION OTHER THAN ANGER IN YEARS. I CAN NOT DESCRIBE HOW THIS IS MAKING ME FEEL. ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT I WISH I COULD HAVE DIED FOR HIM. IT IS TRUE WHAT THEY SAY. THE GOOD DIE YOUNG. PEACE OUT !
